Justin Tsang is a recent graduate from UC Berkeley and recently finished his internship through the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the Office of Multifamily Housing. Justin has been involved in various settings involving disability advocacy, including the American Association for People with Disabilities (AAPD) and the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC). Justin is now serving as a Community Partner for a housing nonprofit, The Kelsey, as part of the Rise Justice Labs 2021 Cohort. His work in the Rise Justice Labs is guided by Rise’s founder, Amanda Nguyen, and her blueprint for Social Change. His cohort aims to develop and pass a federal bill to support the production of housing for people with disabilities.
Justin is also passionate about advocating for the Asian American population, especially those with disabilities. Justin believes that the Asian American population is unique in cultural differences and heritage. However, he believes that Asian Americans with disabilities often lack support and resources due to culture and stigma. Justin wants to further spread awareness and better support Asian Americans with disabilities. Outside of AADI, Justin can be seen hiking, watching movies, exploring new music, and exploring cities.
