Jiya Pandya
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jiya (she/they) is a PhD candidate at Princeton University. Her academic research and writing sit at the nexus of disability studies, modern South Asian history, histories of caste, and feminist and queer theories of the body. She has teaching experience in global and oral history, crip theory, writing, and gender and sexuality studies. While being in the classroom is what brings her most joy, Jiya is also committed to progressive South Asia organizing, graduate labor politics, and disability community. Given her own experiences with race, disability, and immigration, she cares deeply about supporting communities of color, Black and Indigenous communities, and marginalized communities in the Global South who navigate the many meanings that disability can have for them. Her passion project during the pandemic has been compiling the #CripCOVID19Syllabus, but most often, Jiya can be found cooking, hanging out with her rabbit Bunny Sanders, and dancing to Bollywood music.
